Job Overview:


GaN is seeking a  senior Software Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate should have the ability to build automation test frameworks and contribute to existing test automation efforts.


  • Identify test objectives from requirement documents / technical design specifications
  • Develops test plans, test schedule, and approach, confirming requirements are being met
  • Analyze risks posed to software systems
  • Perform analysis and generate recommended solutions to conform to TENA standard practices
  • Perform exploratory testing, build test plans, and document defects in software
  • Utilize reverse engineering techniques to ensure compliance with TENA standards
  • Build and review acceptance criteria for software development on government systems
  • Provide findings to government customers


Requirements (minimum):

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 7+ years of experience; or a master’s degree and 4+ years of experience required
  • Certifications:
    • Security +
    • MCSA or MCSE – MCSE preferred
    • Redhat Linux ce (Linux + or RHCE)
  • Proficiency using modern C++ and/or modern Java languages or similar languages
  • Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
  • Proficiency with web application technologies, such as JBoss, Apache Tomcat, etc.
  • Proficiency with at least 1 scripting language (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented (OO) Design & Development including the use of software design patterns
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies including use of version control systems (e.g., Git), issue/problem tracking systems (e.g., Jira), team collaboration software (e.g., Confluence), and continuous integration environments (e.g., Jenkins) and their implementation via a DevSecOps process
  • The Software Engineer must have the ability to work closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are desired, as the Software Developer will be in frequent contact with both a project technical lead and be taking direction from various government leads.
  • Familiar with UML and DoDAF documentation
  • Knowledge of static and dynamic analysis techniques – preferably Fortify


Additional Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a network engineer desired
  • CISSP certification
  • CCNA certification
  • Knowledge of the Test and Training Enabling Architecture (TENA) and the Joint Mission Environment Testing Capability (JMETC).


Special Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have ACTIVE secret security clearance
