Overview

GaN is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant, focused on detail, accounting principles and practices, and DCAA knowledge to provide support to our finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Process AP vouchers and other duties related to AP; review invoices and statements
  • Support audit requests
  • Answer calls/emails from internal customers and external vendors
  • Analyze reports from accounting system to resolve discrepancies
  • Provide routine accounting, finance and clerical support
  • Assist in the review of coding transactions; process material through data processing in accounting system
  • Assist in the payment of vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verify federal id numbers; prepare checks; resolve purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and/or payment discrepancies and documentation; follow through regarding credit receipt for outstanding memos
  • Process Employee Expense Reports; verify documentation
  • Assist in the handling of Subcontractor invoice log, sales tax spreadsheet, GSA/IFF spreadsheet, and any/all other accounting documentation as required
  • Conformance with requirements and technical soundness of completed work are reviewed by other members of the accounting team, and/or controlled by mechanisms built into the accounting processes
  • Duties may include but are not limited to the support of reconciliation of bank accounts and credit card statements, posting and balancing financial data in various ledgers, verification of documents and codes, processing payments
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Provide information as requested to shippers, customers, the sales/marketing department and other stake holders
  • Ensure appropriate signature authority on a variety of routine accounting and/or financial documents
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in finance and accounting to include A/P and A/R
  • 1+ years of government contract experience with exposure to multiple contract types and DCAA knowledge
  • 1+ years of relational database design
  • Experience using Deltek, GCS Premier, and/or CostPoint
  • Excellent communication skills

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience using Impromptu
  • Experience in process and procedure improvements
  • Knowledge of government contract to include Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and Federal Acquisition Regulation(FAR)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft applications, GCS, Deltek, CostPoint, and data entry
  • Understand general computer skills for accounting environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Computer Information Systems, or a related field
