    GaN is seeking an electrical engineer for an exciting new start development project. The engineer will be part of a small multi-disciplined team that will design, build, integrate, test, verify, and validate a complex test system that will be installed on Redstone Arsenal to support Aviation system testing. The project will include a large electro-mechanical system, a stabilized platform, electro-optic equipment, software, models and simulations, instrumentation and electronics, and minor construction. This job will be ambitious, exciting, and highly visible; applicants are expected to be top-notch and result-oriented professionals seeking a new career challenge. Candidates for this role must have experience in applying control theory in software controls of electro-mechanical systems.

    • Design and implement a real-time control system for multiple electro-mechanical subsystems

    • Write real-time control software that integrates an all-digital six degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulation with hardware components

    • (Optional) Serve as lead software developer for entire project

    • (Optional) Serve as lead software architect for entire project


    • Required: BS in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering or other engineering field if with controls experience.

    • Desired: Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering or other engineering field if with controls experience.

    Required Skills:

    • Ability to design and implement a digital control system from scratch
    • Understanding of basic control theory
    • Advanced C/C++/C# Software Development
    • Experience with RedHat / RedHawk Linux or other Real Time Operating System (RTOS)
    • Ability to document custom electronic designs to meet applicable documentation standards
    • Ability to maintain professional demeanor at all times.
    • Dedicated to customer service, quality, and team building.
    • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently.
    Additional Skillsets of Interest:  
    • System Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
    • Experience with MatLab and Simulink

    • Experience with DIS or TENA

    • Experience with RedHat Linux

    • FPGA development / programming

    • Ability to program Arduino devices

    • Familiarity with CMMI-DEV Level3
    • Familiarity with Army Aviation and Rotary Wing Aviation (RWA) platforms and components
    • Familiarity with Army test and evaluation (T&E)
